We are currently looking for a skilled machinist to join our team. Going into 2022 we see many opportunities to grow, and we are looking for the right dedicated candidate to become a part of our team. We consider hiring an employee to be a big investment in our future and we want to make sure that any potential applicant understands what we are looking for and what we have to offer. Please read on to learn more about this opportunity.

Firstly, we have two roles to fill that may be filled by one person with the right skills. Primarily we are looking for a skilled general machinist. In an ideal world we would also like this person to become a lead hand in our shop and take on further responsibilities.

We are looking for a person who seeks a career in Western Manitoba and feels rooted in the area. Our goal has always been to provide a great working environment and retain the staff we train. Western Manitoba offers affordable living in a semi rural setting. It is a wonderful place for those who enjoy the outdoors and the freedoms that rural living can offer.

As a bare minimum an applicant should have three years general machining experience or a Red Seal Machining certificate. While we do take apprentices from time to time, right now our need is for a proficient machinist. We do not undertake any production work and have no CNC machinery. We are specifically looking for a candidate who has been dedicated to manual machining.

Our shop is not unionized. It is ideally suited to a person who seeks out challenges and learning new skills. We expect our staff to cross train into other skills such as welding , balancing and mechanical. We have been successful because not only do we manufacture parts, but we also repair the equipment the parts are intended for. This means that the the parts we machine will often be directly fitted to machinery in our shop. For example, you may be tasked with dismantling a pump, reverse engineering a worn part, machining a replacement part and reassembling the pump. This has always been key to our success as we check all the fits of the parts we have manufactured. We will provide the necessary training if you have the willingness to learn and be challenged.

Our shop is a great place to work. It is clean, brightly lit with large windows along all walls. The building is equipped with in floor heating and air conditioning to provide the most comfort year-round. We keep our machines well maintained and have a weekly time allowance for deep cleaning the machines. The shop offers a large canteen area with a full kitchen along with an outdoor deck and BBQ. We aim to make life here as enjoyable as possible as we spend a lot of time together.

We do occasionally work offsite at plant shutdowns or for urgent break down repairs. We expect all staff to be involved with these duties. This typically does not take up more than 2-3 weeks per year. A premium is offered for offsite work during these projects. We always aim to keep overtime to a minimum. We want to make sure that our staff are not over worked. However, for the ambitious, we often do provide overtime if it is wanted.

We offer a competitive benefits program that has continued to expand as we grow. We are very flexible with our staff and always accommodate medical appointments, childcare duties or other important appointments that arise.

Most of all, we offer variety. To succeed in Western Manitoba, we must be ready to tackle a wide variety of work. There are many industries located around us that all have unique machinery. After being in business for so many years we have seen the risks of becoming focused on a single industry. We have always welcomed new challenges and we have always been busy as a result. To be successful we need employees that share the same willingness to learn new skills and stretch their abilities.

We look forward to hearing from you
